Smart cars and new energy vehicles will drive huge demand for automotive PCBs
- Release on:2018-08-31
With the increasing use of electronic components in automobiles, smart cars and new energy vehicles have become powerful thrusts for automotive electronics growth. With the rapid expansion of automotive electronics, the high reliability requirements of automotive PCB products are increasing. Automotive PCBs require an operating temperature of -40 ° C to 85 ° C. PCBs are generally FR 4 and have a thickness of 1.0 to 1.6 mm. The data shows that the cost of automotive electronics for mid- to high-end cars is 28%, and that for new energy vehicles is 47% higher. The trend of automotive electronics drives the demand for PCBs, and the scale of PCBs in the global automotive electronics market is growing steadily.
With the obvious trend of automotive electronics, the trillion-dollar market has boosted the steady growth of automotive PCBs. Since 2012 to 2017, the global automotive electronics scale has increased from US$150 billion to US$230 billion in 2017, with an average annual compound growth rate of 9%. In 2012, China's automotive electronics market was 44.5 billion US dollars. As of 2017, it grew to 82.6 billion US dollars, accounting for 36% of the global automotive electronics market, far exceeding the growth rate of the global automotive electronics market. It is expected that the scale of China's automotive electronics market will reach 2019. With US$110.2 billion, China will become the main market for automotive electronics.
The vehicle electronic system mainly includes two aspects: the vehicle body electronic control system and the vehicle electronic control system. The main applications of the PCB are power system, lighting system, navigation system, body sensor, entertainment system and other systems. In addition, with the support of national policies, the promotion of car networking and smart driving vehicles, the ADAS system gradually penetrated from the high-end market to the mid-end market.
According to the data, by the end of 2015, the penetration rate of China's smart-drive passenger cars has reached 15%. By 2020, the market share of China's driver-assisted part of self-driving vehicles will reach 50%, and the market size will reach 96.3 billion yuan. Because ADAS has a variety of operational control, safety control, and peripheral control functions that need to be implemented through PCBs, the smart car market will simultaneously drive the demand for PCBs in ADAS.
On the other hand, the accelerated application of new energy vehicles instead of fuel vehicles, PCB applications are expected to continue to improve. The process of banned fuel vehicles in major countries in the world has accelerated. On September 8, 2017, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China also formulated a timetable for stopping production and sales of traditional new energy vehicles.
New energy vehicles are mainly divided into pure electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, fuel cell vehicles, hydrogen engine vehicles and other new energy vehicles. New energy vehicles have huge potential for PCB demand. With the strong support of industrial policies, the sales volume of new energy vehicles in China has increased tremendously.
BMS is one of the core components of new energy vehicles. PCB board is one of the basic components of BMS and will benefit from the development of new energy vehicles. Therefore, under the trend that new energy vehicles have a greater degree of PCB usage than traditional automobiles, PCBs will have a huge market.
